Born in Port Harcourt on August 15, 1977 as Enetimi Alfred Odom, Timaya has come a long way in the industry from controversies and scandals to several hit songs and awards.
Dem Mama Records boss, Timaya is 38 years today and to celebrate, the Bayelsa dancehall act has dropped a new single, Halleluyah.
Born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria on August 15, 1977 as Enetimi Alfred Odom, Timaya has come a long way in the industry from controversies and scandals to several hit songs and awards.
He worked for many years as a musician’s assistant, junior crew member at La Kreem and writer cum back up act, before securing his place as a star to watch and court. Bold and confident, he worked the studios as hard as he worked the media, sculpting his own image himself; building a repertoire and reputation that would serve him a lot of times, albeit occasionally dragging him in the mire.
Timaya was recently enmeshed in a rape scandal which involved a US based Nigerian singer, Shella B. It appears he has now put that incident behind him although analysts say a legal battle might just law ahead of him.
The ‘Sexy Ladies’ singer was also few days ago seen partying with pop star Rihanna who is Mavin boss, Don Jazzy‘s long time crush.
For right and wrong reasons Timaya remains one of the most-talked-about Nigerian celebrities. Many mostly remember him for the audacious ‘Odi’ single which documented the Obasanjo government’s attack on a Bayelsa village, as well as his rollercoaster romance with equally controversial actress, Empress Njamah.
Timaya has 2 daughters from his baby mama, Barbara.
He has in the cause of his professional career released 6 albums: True Story (2007), Gift And Grace (2008), De Rebirth (2010), LLNP (Long Life N Prosperity-2011), Upgrade (2012) and Epiphany (2014).
