Tyga's Financial Woes Continue As The State Of California Comes After The Rapper For THOUSANDS In Back Taxes! Yikes!

Image
Say it ain't so! The financial hits just keep coming for  Tyga  this year. On Monday, it was revealed that  Kylie Jenner 's boyfriend owes the state of California $19,000 in back taxes for the years 2009, 2010, and 2011. Yikes! It's said that the state's even put a tax lien on the  Rack City  rapper. Merp. As we previously reported, this isn't the only monetary hiccup  Blac Chyna 's ex is currently in the middle of. T-Raww's duking it out with his landlord who accuses him of owing $70,000 in unpaid rent. Well that's not gonna help his credit score! However, the reality TV star claims in a separate lawsuit that he's already paid $200,000 toward the purchase of the $8 million Calabasas home that he's renting from the complaint. Bummer. Conveniently, the property in question is located near his lady love's $2.7 million dollar mansion. Well then, we can now understand why he's so stubborn about this residence -- HA! D

Donald Trump is slumping — and 2 new candidates are surging after the big GOP debate

Image
Donald Trump remains the front-runner for the Republican nomination for president — but two candidates have surged after last week's intense CNN debate. Trump is slumping in a new CNN/ORC poll released Sunday. He leads the crowded field with 24% of the Republican vote, down 8 points from a similar survey earlier in the month.  Meanwhile, former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) — whom many pundits identified as the two winners of the debate — have jumped a few spots. Fiorina has vaulted into second behind Trump, grabbing 15% of the vote. She had just 3% support in the previous CNN poll earlier this month. Rubio is in fourth place with 11% of the Republican vote, also up from 3%. He's also behind retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who fell to third place amid Fiorina's rise. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) stands in fifth place, with 9% of the vote. He also had 9% in the last CNN poll. Fiorina has risen from virtual non-existent

LIVE: Syriza projected to win Greek elections

Image
Greece went to the polls on Sunday, and the first exit polls are projecting a victory for the incumbent Prime Minister and Syriza. The radical left-wing party was catapulted into power in January this year, in opposition to the country's European bailout deals and austerity policies. Eight months later, after months of torturous negotiations, capitulation, the resignation of former finance minister Yanis Varoufakis and the calling of new snap elections, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is now heading up a pro-bailout party. The anti-bailout hard left of Syriza are running under a separate banner, as a bloc called Popular Unity.  The polls have generally given Syriza a narrow lead, but it's been uncomfortably close to New Democracy, the centre-right party that previously headed up a coalition.  We'll have more as the results come out.

Robert Reich is totally wrong: Tech is the most competitive industry in the US

Image
Berkeley professor and economist  Robert Reich argues  in The New York Times that the big tech industry has become too powerful, and suggests that more government intervention is necessary to stop giants like Google, Facebook, and Amazon from amassing more power. His argument is utterly wrong, across the board. If you believe Reich, you'd have to argue that almost every other sector in the U.S. economy deserves even  more government intervention. Because, in fact, the tech industry — by which we're actually referring to information technology, not other kinds of "tech" like biotech — has seen more turnover in power in a shorter amount of time than any other U.S. industry.

Clinton to propose new prescription drug proposal this week

Image
WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton says she'll roll out a new plan this week to control the cost of prescription drugs. The 2016 Democratic presidential front-runner said on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday that she often hears complaints about the "skyrocketing" costs of prescription drugs. She added that the proposal is an effort to improve on President Barack Obama's signature national health care law, which she says is working well. Republican presidential candidates want to get rid of the law, which has been upheld by the Supreme Court and survived dozens of votes in Congress to repeal it.

Caitlyn Jenner files to legally change name and gender

Image
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Court records show Caitlyn Jenner has filed paperwork to make her name and gender transition official. The Olympic gold medalist who was born as Bruce Jenner filed a name and gender change petition on Tuesday in Los Angeles. The filing seeks to officially change her name to Caitlyn Marie Jenner and gender to female. The filing says the 65-year-old Jenner is seeking the change to better match her identity. Some details in the released petition were redacted after Jenner's attorneys sought to keep certain personal details private, citing concerns about threats made against her. Jenner won a gold medal in the men's decathlon at the 1976 Olympics.

On Monday,  Disney  announced that it was developing a new live-action musical adaptation of  Mary Poppins , which immediately sparked debate on which leading lady would play the magical nanny! Mere speculation is fun, but some fans are so serious they're actually placing bets on which actress will snag the role! Other stars who bettors think would be in the running feature many A-list actresses with vocal talent, like  Emily Blunt (5/2),  Amy Adams  (7/2),  Anna Kendrick  (10/1), and  Kristen Bell  (11/2) -- who already played the nanny in a  FunnyOrDie sketch! Other possible actresses to take the role include  Amanda Seyfried  (12/1),  Gugu Mbatha-Raw  (16/1),  Lea Michele (33/1), and  Anna   Camp  (50/1)! We'd place our bets on any of these leading ladies, but we would LOV

The Supreme Court could soon hear a challenge to a 'distinctively American form of punishment'

Image
Lawyers for a convicted murderer in Virginia have asked the Supreme Court to decide whether death row inmatesshould automatically be placed in solitary confinement.  If the Supreme Court agrees takes up the case, it could also examine the broader issue of whether solitary confinement violates the Constitution's ban on cruel and unusual punishment.  As New York Times columnist Adam Liptak writes this week, the high court "seems eager" to weigh in on this "distinctively American form of punishment." In 2011, a United Nations expert on torture called for a ban on the practice, but the US still routinely uses it.

Obama rips into 'coddled' college students at town hall in Iowa

Image
President Barack Obama held a town hall on college access and affordability in Des Moines, Iowa, on Monday, where he took questions from local high school students and their parents. During one impassioned response, he waded into the discussion over political dialogue on college campuses and said students should not be "coddled" from opposing political viewpoints. "I’ve heard of some college campuses where they don’t want to have a guest speaker who is too conservative," Obama said. "Or they don’t want to read a book if it has language that is offensive to African-Americans, or somehow sends a demeaning signal towards women. I don’t agree that you, when you become students at colleges, have to be coddled and protected from different points of views."  His statement came in response to a question from a junior at Lincoln High School, who asked the president what he thought about threats from presidential candidates that they would cut governm

Donald Trump can't answer a simple question that's one of the fundamentals of his campaign

Image
Donald Trump has described his slogan, "Make America Great Again," as the "whole theme" of his presidential campaign. But earlier this week, one of his rivals, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) attacked him for that message with a speech in which he argued the slogan implies the country is "not great." Business Insider asked Trump at his press conference on Thursday whether he means to imply the country is not great now and if he thinks any other country is better. Trump didn't directly answer the question and instead said "our country could be doing much better." He then proceeded to list a litany of issues.

One of the best American tennis players collapsed on the court in the heat at the US Open

Image
Another American male bowed out of the US Open today, this time in scary fashion. Jack Sock, the hard-hitting 22-year-old who reached the Round of 16 at this year's French Open, collapsed during the middle of the fourth set in his second round match and had to retire. He was leading two sets to love before suddenly slowing his serve down substantially and being unable to run during the third set, which he lost 6-4. At 1-2 down in the fourth set, he started to cramp and then collapsed. While the trainers were attending to him, he looked to be fading in and out of consciousness. He was so exhausted and physically depleted that he couldn't even shake opponent Ruben Bemelmans' hand. Donald Trump just handed the Republican Party a major gift

Image
