Don’t intimidate voters, ACF warns security agents

Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba  | credits: saharareporters.com The northern socio-political organisation, Arewa Consultative Forum,  on Friday, warned  security agents against intimidating or harassing voters at polling units for no just cause during  Saturday’s  presidential election across the country. “There should be no act of intimidation or harassment of an illegible voter in the polling units by the security agents for no just cause,” the Forum said in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim, in Kaduna  on Friday . According to the Forum, rather than intimidating voters, security agents must protect both the INEC officials and voters at the various polling units in the country. It also  urged Nigerian youths to shun any  act capable of truncating the electoral process, especially the smooth conduct of the polls. This is just as the northern body appealed to the Nigerian electorate to conduct themselves in today’s( Saturday’s ) reschedul

Buhari charges INEC, security agencies to function within the law

Image
Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), yesterday declared that while he does not expect any “tampering” with this Saturday’s election, there may be “consequences” in an event there is a foul play. The presidential candidate, who advised INEC and law enforcement agencies to work within the law and not allow themselves to be used by anyone, told the AFP that, “I don’t think this election can be tampered with, like the previous ones”. He stated this in reference to his three previous attempts at the presidency in 2003, 2007 and 2011, when the ruling Peoples Democratic Party’s victories were disputed and challenged in court. Buhari, who spoke in Abuja after he ended his campaigns, expressed optimism that APC’s nationwide support, coupled with the commitment of loyalists to defend their votes at various polling stations would help to curb the prospect of rigging.

Are Khloe Kardashian & French Montana Back ON For The Billionth Time!? All Signs Point To Yes!

Image
Seriously, what's going on with these two?! On March 26,   Khloe Kardashian  and  French Montana  were spotted partying and looking quite the couple at the Red Bull Guest House in Miami. According to a source, the on-and-off pair looked like they were totally ON as they enjoyed their evening with pals Cassie and Diddy. The insider elaborated: "They were acting very much as a couple. French is all about Khloé and can't keep his eyes off of her. Khloé looks really great and fit. They are all enjoying their night so far!" Hmm! It sounds like these two are definitely an item once again! Honestly, we can't say we're surprised considering KoKo was caught hanging with the rapper in Key West earlier this month. Very  inneresting ... especially since   Kourtney Kardashian   expressed relief in the season 10 premiere of  Keeping Up with the Kardashians  after Khloe announced she and French were on a break. Kourt complained: "He's so dumb. I can

The complete history of David Cameron's bizarre obsession with 1970s British comedian Benny Hill

Image
Last night, 105 members of the British public got a rare treat: A partial recital of a crude 1950's comic song by the Prime Minister himself. David Cameron was at the Sky Studios to be grilled by Jeremy Paxman, followed by questions from a studio audience.  During an advert break he mentioned to Sky News host Kay Burley his affection for long-dead British comedian Benny Hill  — before, at her urging, reciting some of the ditty to the audience. For those who aren't up to scratch on their mid-century English comics, Benny Hill was born in 1924, and epitomises a certain kind of British vaudeville seaside comedy — slapstick, innuendo-filled, and now  desperately  unfashionable.  (Re-runs of The Benny Hill Show ran in the US on cable TV stations for years after he fell out of fashion in the UK.) The song in question, "Ernie (The Fastest Milkman In The West)," tells the comic tale of milkman Ernie struggling (and ultimately failing) to win the affections of a young

Nigeria Decides: All the news, updates and incoming results (Live Blog)

Image
Nigeria Decides: All the news, updates and incoming results After months of preparation, vigorous campaign by political parties and their candidates, postponement in scheduled dates, accusations and counter-accusations, the 2015 presidential election is here, and in less than 24 hours, Nigerians will be heading to the polls to choose who among the 14 presidential candidates who have secured the tickets of their parties as the next president of the most populous black nation on earth! Saturday’s presidential election is arguably the most important in the history of Nigeria as a nation and one that will go down in record as the most fiercely fought. It is the most important because it is the first presidential election after the nation celebrated its first 100 years of nationhood. It is the most important because Nigerians are going to the polls to elect a new leader in a time of war, the war against Boko Haram insurgents. It is the most important, because Nigerians have never a

AD candidate steps down for Buhari

Image
Presidential candidate of Alliance for Democracy, AD, Rafiu Salau has stepped down from Saturday’s presidential election and urged his supporters to vote for the standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (rtd). Salau, who announced this at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday predicated his decision on the need to prevent Nigeria from becoming a one party State, urging supporters of his party to ensure they vote out the ruling Peoples Democratic party, PDP. While charging Nigerians to shun religion and tribe and vote for competence, he said, “Don’t give any other party your mandate to stay in power for more than 16 years. You deserve another team of politicians with different manifestos and ideology to serve you. “As voters, don’t listen to those who based their campaign on tribe and religion. In politics, the difference is ideology. Religion or tribe has nothing to do with pure democracy. Those who see your vote by tribe or religious in

Jennifer Lopez And Casper Smart Are Totally Back Together!! Oh Wait… They Never Broke Up!?!?

Image
A few months ago, we reported that  Jennifer Lopez  and  Casper Smart  were spotted together on New Years Eve, making rumors swirl that the couple was back together! Now, it appears they are not only back together after they were caught kissing in public while at an American Idol  taping this week, but the duo were never really apart to begin with! Sources say that the breakup they announced back in June was nothing but a business move! It makes sense -- execs on J.Lo's movie  Boy Next Door  thought creating some buzz that the 45-year-old star was hooking up with her co-star  Ryan Guzman  would help sell more tickets at the box office. Smart benefited from the public break too. The 27-year-old dancer was bulking up for his  UFC  fighter movie  Street , and his single status would give him some buzz for the movie as well. But reportedly, the real story is that they only stopped seeing each other for a few weeks. Two months into the breakup, the two were spotted in a BMW

Shailene Woodley Might Have Just Out-Shailened Herself

Image
Shailene Woodley , seen above looking like the Designer Imposters version of Kristen Stewart, has confessed some pretty WTF stuff in the past, but she recently outdid herself. During a recent interview with  Nylon  (via UsWeekly), Shailene was asked what the strangest thing she’s ever eaten was. Knowing what I know about Shailene (which is entirely TOO DAMN MUCH, if I’m being honest), I’d guess the strangest thing she’s ever eaten was either someone’s aura, but no. It was bugs. And she didn’t hate it: “I’ve eaten ants and that was great. And June bugs, that was great. I think the future of food is in insects, so we’ll see what happens.” Literally the only way that could have gotten more Shailene-y is if she had added “ Did you know that drinking a tea made from organic whisperroot and grasshoppers will cure a blocked chakra? It’s true, a shaman told me in a dream I once had. ” Full disclosure – one time I watched a science show (truth: it was a science show for kids) and they

PDP has exhausted its goodwill – Buhari

Image
General Muhammadu Buhari General Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate has stated that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has has lost its goodwill because it failed to perform in 16 years. At a news conference held in Abuja, he said Nigerians want change, the reason they will vote APC en masse. “I specifically called this press conference to thank millions of Nigerians for their support and their enthusiastic commitment to the imperative of change. I am particularly overwhelmed that, despite the sustained smear campaigns against me by the ruling PDP, the support Nigerians have for me has remained intact. The enthusiasm of Nigerians for change is understandable. “The 16 years of PDP administration is a story of despair, despondency, disillusionment and pervasive fear, caused by unprecedented insecurity. The basic functions of the government such as the security, welfare and happiness of the citizens appear only in paper. It is mor

Buhari, a gamble not worth taking by Nigerians -Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan Ahead of the Saturday’s presidential elections, President Goodluck Jonathan has described his main contender, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) of the All Progressives Congress as a gamble that is not worth taking by Nigerians. He said he did not think that Nigerians will make the mistake of electing Buhari who he said is not the right option for the country at this time. Jonathan said this in an interview he granted an online news medium, TheCable. The interview was published on Thursday. The President said although he could not claim to be perfect, majority of Nigerians would still prefer him above Buhari. He said, “I don’t think Nigerians will make the mistake of voting for Buhari. “Gen. Buhari, with due respect, is not the right option for Nigeria at this time. It is a gamble that is not worth taking. “I may not be perfect as nobody is perfect. But I believe that come Saturday, the majority of Nigerian voters will choose me as the best cand

Experimental Ebola vaccine effective in monkeys: study

© AFP Zoom Dosso A Liberian worker reacts as he dismantles shelters in an Ebola treatment center in Monrovia on March 25, 2015 Washington (AFP) - An experimental Ebola vaccine has been shown to effectively protect monkeys against the often-deadly virus, according to a study published Thursday. The new medicine, described in the journal Science, is what is known as a "whole virus" vaccine.  This means it is based on a non-active form of the entire virus instead of just fragments, and is more likely to trigger a broad immune response. "The new vaccine differs from other Ebola vaccines," a statement from the University of Wisconsin-Madison read. "As an inactivated whole virus vaccine, it primes the host immune system with the full complement of Ebola viral proteins and genes, potentially conferring greater protection." The vaccine was constructed on an experimental platform that lets researchers safely work with the virus by deleting a key gene th
