Edo Deputy Governor Pius Odubu on Monday appealed to the Federal Government to rehabilitate the Fugar/Agenebode road being threatened by erosion.
Odubu made the appeal when he spoke to NAN in Igiode, Etsako East Local Government Area of the State.
On the belief in some quarters that the road belongs to the State Government, Odubu said, “you are a journalist. Do some investigative journalism and you will find out that it is a federal road.”
Odubu said government was willing to rehabilitate the road, but that the previous government at the centre did not cooperate.
“When we wanted to do it then, the Federal Government came with a directive that it is their road and we should not touch it.
“So it is not a state road. It is a federal road, and we expect them to come and do it this time around.
“Now that the APC is in government, we shall take the message expeditiously to the Federal Ministry of Works to come and do the job.”
He urged the federal government to expedite action as the road is caving in due to the effect of the gully erosion.
A recent heavy down pour has worsened the road as is almost cut into two by the erosion.
