4-time Grammy nominee, Femi Kuti turns 53 today
The eldest son of the late Afrobeat founder, Femi Kuti was born on June 16, 1962 in London. He started playing the Saxophone at 15 and eventually became a member of his father’s band before creating his own band, Positive Force in the late 1980s.
With albums like Africa For Africa, No Place For my dreams and others to his credit, Femi has been nominated for theGrammy Awards 4 times in the world music category although he is yet to win any. He was nominated in 2003, 2010, 2012 and 2013.
In December 2014, he signed a management deal with the Audu Maikori led Chocolate City Music Group.
