Woody Allen Gets Super Weird Discussing His Marriage And 'Paternal' Relationship With Soon-Yi Previn
Woody Allen needs to take a long pause every time before he speaks.
In a recent interview, the famed director decided to open up about his "paternal" relationship with his wife of 18 years,Soon-Yi Previn. Why a "paternal" relationship between any pair of spouses would be innately strange, Allen's characterization is particularly concerning considering he met Soon-Yi when she was the teenage DAUGHTER of his ex-wife, Mia Farrow.
Oh, and there's also those decade long allegations that the 79-year-old molested his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow. It's important to note, however, that Allen has adamantly denied and even fought these rumors in court.
As for his relationship to Previn, Woody waxed poetic about the beginnings of their romance, saying:
"I started the relationship with Previn and I thought it would just be a fling. It wouldn't be serious, but it had a life of its own. And I never thought it would be anything more. Then we started going together, then we started living together, and we were enjoying it. And the age difference didn't seem to matter. It seemed to work in our favor actually."
...seemed to work out in their "favor"? Inneresting, how so?
Allen explained:
"She enjoyed being introduced to many, many things that I knew from experience, and I enjoyed showing her those things. I'm 35 years older, and somehow, through no fault of mine or hers, the dynamic worked. I was paternal. She responded to someone paternal. I liked her youth and energy. She deferred to me, and I was happy to give her an enormous amount of decision making just as a gift and let her take charge of so many things."
Wait, hold the phone.
For YEARS the couple have taken great pains to paint their relationship as anything but a father/daughter dynamic. The public has expressed great outrage over the fact that Woody was technically Soon-Yi's step-father, so why come out and say something so bizarre now?
So, what do YOU think of Woody's comments?
