Game Of Thrones To Last How Many Seasons? HBO Exec Talks Series Run, Possible Prequel, And Jon Snow's Fate!

Winter is coming… and so is the end of Game Of Thrones!
Okay, it's not ending anytime soon, but HBO's head of programming Michael Lombardo revealed that we can expect just three more seasons of the hit fantasy show before it's epic conclusion!

At the Television Critics Association's summer press tour on Thursday, the executive was asked if the hit show would last after Season 7. Lombardo predicted the show would run for two years after Season 6, which is currently being filmed in Belfast, Ireland. He said:
"[Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss] are probably feeling there are two more years after [Season 6]. Seven seasons and out has never been the conversation. The question is how many beyond the seventh season we're gonna do."
While author George R.R. Martin planned seven books for the Song of Ice and Fire series, HBO's juggernaut has taken precedence and will outpace the novels -- a release date for the sixth book in the series, The Winds of Winter, has yet to be announced.
Since the GoT universe is so massive, the premium cable network is "open" to exploring more of Westeros after the show ends, with the possibility of a prequel series -- if HBO's Small Council is up for it:
"It really depends fully for us on what [the showrunners] want to do."
The executive also gave insight on the fate of Jon Snow, putting it bluntly:
"Dead is dead is dead. He be dead. Everything I've seen, heard, and read, Jon Snow is dead."
Hmmm, we're not sure what to make of that, especially since Kit Harington was seen making his way to the Belfast setlast week!
Either way, we can't wait to see what happens next season!

A quarter century ago, after Saddam Hussein's Iraqi army successfully invaded and took over the tiny Persian Gulf nation of Kuwait, President George H.W. Bush famously drew a line in the sand against Iraqi aggression.
