Rivers PDP hold reception to accept Amaechi’s Deputy Governor

ikuru653x365The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State have accepted the Deputy Governor of the state, Tele Ikuru who recently defected into their party.
Chairman of the PDP in the state, Felix Obuah, the party Governorship candidate, Nyesom Wike and other party leaders were in attendance to accept Ikuru at a defection ceremony organised in Port Harcourt.
However, the PDP Chairman, Obuah disclosed that many likes of the Deputy Governor were still in the APC, adding that Ikuru had led the way for massive defection of more prominent individuals from the ruling party in the state.
Obuah said, “I want to say that all the benefits anybody in PDP is entitled to, just be rest assured that you and all your supporters who are here today will still enjoy the same benefits”.
On his part, Ikuru said that he was deceived into dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in December 2013 to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ikuru, said Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi made him believe that joining the APC was the new order.
The deputy governor defected with some of his supporters including former deputy mayor of Port Harcourt City local government area, Hon Victor Ere, secretary of APC in Andoni local government area, Hon
Kingston Silvanus, amongst others.

It's been 25 years since Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait

A quarter century ago, after Saddam Hussein's Iraqi army successfully invaded and took over the tiny Persian Gulf nation of Kuwait, President George H.W. Bush famously drew a line in the sand against Iraqi aggression. While the United States and its allies easily ejected Iraq from Kuwait within seven months of the Aug. 2, 1990, invasion, Bush's line has continued onward in an almost Biblical fashion, accompanied by plenty of pre-modern horrors.
