78-year-old ‘Goldfinger’ hitmaker, Dame Shirley Bassey has said she doesn’t understand why modern singers feel the need to ‘see who can wear the skimpiest outfit’ rather than focus on their talents.
Observers believe Shirley’s stinging remark is reserved for stars at the recent MET Gala includingBeyonce’s barely-there bejewelled dress.
Dame Shirley said: ‘It is like they are all in competition with each other. Who can wear the skimpiest outfit? I mean come on.’

‘When I saw Beyonce at the Met Ball the other night I was like, ‘excuse me?’ I think you have to leave a lot to the imagination. Yes, my dresses were sexy with a slit here and a cut up to here but I left a lot to the imagination. I did not show everything.’
The ‘Big Spender’ singer believes current stars will struggle to emulate her long career, which has lasted more than six decades, if they go down the X-rated route, and, thinks they’re giving children a ‘bad impression’ by wearing next to nothing.
Speaking at the ‘Shooting Star’ book launch in London, Dame Shirley said: ‘Of course it is a bad impression for young people to follow because they want to dress like that. It is like ‘Who can wear the least amount of coverage’. They are all talented and that is the sad thing about it.’
‘I say go in the studio and sing your heart out and get a vocal coach and strengthen your vocal chords.’

A quarter century ago, after Saddam Hussein's Iraqi army successfully invaded and took over the tiny Persian Gulf nation of Kuwait, President George H.W. Bush famously drew a line in the sand against Iraqi aggression. While the United States and its allies easily ejected Iraq from Kuwait within seven months of the Aug. 2, 1990, invasion, Bush's line has continued onward in an almost Biblical fashion, accompanied by plenty of pre-modern horrors. The Gulf War begat the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which begat the US invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, which begat ISIS, which begat a potential future war with Iran or Syria or even what remains of Iraq.
