Just as millennials are no longer looking for three-decade careers in multinationals, more and more artistes are realizing they can be their own bosses. Here’s why:
  1. There are no labels anymore. One can only count Chocolate City and The Mavins, before beginning to stammer. Where have all the labels gone? Into production, management, promotions. Anything that does not have the burden of being daddy and mommy to spoilt artistes
  2. The biggest artistes right now are on their own. So, who says you too can’t be OYO?
  3. You don’t want to be cheating anyone. See, the label will spend all that money on studio session, car, house and even shoot videos in SA, but only get like 25 percent of some of your earnings? It’s not something a good Christian or Moslem should allow. I totally agree with you.
  4. You’re, errr… richer than the CEO. Wasn’t that the guy behind the label you saw flying economy class the other day? His car is even Tokunbo. Look at his shoes! Chei!
  5. The only label worth your ink died with Don Jazzy and D’banj. Sorry o!
